PogChamps 5, the highly-popular chess.com tournament involving prominent streamers and celebrity commentators, began on July 26 and has witnessed three days of action so far. Nine matches have taken place, with star YouTuber I did a thing’s game against Twitch sensation Papaplatte being the most popular after attracting 52K Peak Viewers. Their match was also the most-watched, hitting 68K Hours Watched, one of the only two such games to cross the 60K mark.
The following participants have played two games each:
- Sapnap
- CDawgVA
- DDOI (Daily Dose of Internet)
- Ghastly
- Sykkuno
- Franks-is-heres
- Jarvis

Among the most watched streamers until Day 3 are Papaplatte and Tyler1, who finished in the second and third positions on this top five list, respectively, behind the official chess.com English channel. When it comes to the corresponding list of most popular content creators, it was the two names above who again led the individual charts, although this time, it was the German in the lead while the hosts’ official handle was sandwiched between these two Twitch stars on the podium.
At the end of Day 3 of the Group Stage, it was CDawgVA (Group A), Ghastly (B), Tyler1 (C), and Papaplatte (D) leading their groups. There are still a few streamers yet to play a game, although they will do so once the event resumes on Monday, including the likes of xQc and QTCindrella.
For those unaware, the live action is being broadcast on chess.com’s official site, alongside its Twitch and YouTube channels. Moreover, YouTube star Ludwig, the partner of the event, will be hosting watch parties on his channel leading up to the in-person finals. During this stage, he'll join the commentary team in Los Angeles, which includes the likes of Hikaru Nakamura, Alexandra Botez, and Levy Rozman. Lastly, fans can catch their favorite streamers participating in the event also broadcasting the proceedings live on their channels.
